Moving around in Edinburgh

Edinburgh's a small city and reasonably easy to get around.

Walking

Edinburgh is a safe and walkable city. The only thing to be aware of if you do plan to walk around are that Edinburgh's weather is unpredictable and so it's a good idea to have lightweight waterproof clothes with you. Also, parts of the city can be very steep, so if you plan to do lots of walking, make sure you wear comfortable shoes.

Public Transportation Maps

Edinburgh has an excellent bus network (and the trams are pretty good too)! To travel by bus, you may use the journey planner here.

Cycling

If you're happy cycling up some hills, cycling can be a very effective way to get around Edinburgh, especially if you're staying near one of the off-road cycle routes. You can hire bikes from the following hire shops:

If you do decide to cycle, please be very careful near the tram lines, as there have been a number of serious accidents crossing the tracks.

Car Parks

We don't recommend that you drive to the EICC, as it's in the centre of the city and the roads can be very busy at peak times. If you do decide to drive, you can check here for information on car parks nearby the venue.
